John was very patient in showing us houses over a period of 9 months from when we first met to closing over many weekends of coming down from eastern Massachusetts for our relocation. We might have thought all he did was know the codes for the key boxes to let us in to houses we'd found here or on similar sites and pre-scouted, and stand aside smiling while we wandered through, but he must have been listening as we visited houses in various price ranges, sizes, and towns because on what turned out to be our last trip he strongly suggested a house we'd passed over online, saying we really should see it. Sure enough, that's the house we bid on, purchased, and our now very happy living in. (We'll know better in a decade if his predictions of which houses will hold their value best come true.) Besides fulfilling that primary task, finding us the right house, John was helpful in making visits back to the property after we had returned to our old home, and to the city zoning department, to get more information we needed, and in guiding us through the negotiation and purchase process which seemed to hit an unusual number of complications from the seller and financing sides. His personal knowledge of the local seller's agent, inspector, attorney, and mortgage broker (and recommendations for all but the first) was particularly helpful as we have no personal connections in this area. (The mortgage broker's lender fell apart at the last minute over something well-known at the start, after the broker assured me things were progressing apace. It left a bad taste, but I can't hold it against John for introducing us.)
